  • Updates1

Copy any file in your vault straight from the file explorer's right-click menu: text files as text, images as PNG, and everything else as a raw file you can paste like in Windows Explorer.

Features

  • Adds a Copy to clipboard option to the right-click menu of every file in the file explorer.
  • Text files (md, txt, json, csv, code files, ...) are copied as text, ready to paste into any editor or chat.
  • Images (png, jpg, gif, webp, svg, ...) are copied as real image data (converted to PNG), ready to paste into documents, emails, or image editors.
  • Any other file (PDFs, binaries, ...) is placed on the clipboard as an actual file, just like pressing Ctrl+C on a file in Windows Explorer, so you can paste it into a folder, an email, or a chat app.
  • Configurable per file type: choose content or raw file for text, PNG or raw file for images.

Usage

Right-click a file in the file explorer, click Copy to clipboard, and paste anywhere.

Settings

All behavior is configurable from Settings → Copy File to Clipboard:

File type Options
Text files Copy text content (default), or copy the raw file
Images Copy as PNG image (default), or copy the raw file

"Copy raw file" places the file itself on the clipboard, like copying it in Windows Explorer.

Notes

  • Desktop only. The raw file copy uses PowerShell, so it currently requires Windows.

About
Add a Copy to clipboard option to the file explorer context menu to copy files in the most useful format. Copy text files as plain text, images as PNG image data ready to paste, or place the raw file on the clipboard and configure behavior per file type.
