A straightforward, easy-to-use flashcard quizzer and editor that uses standard CSV files as the raw format for your study sets. Built for people who just want a no-fuss study experience—without the overhead of complicated spaced-repetition algorithms or complex deck management.

It is natively designed to be 100% compatible with direct CSV exports from tools like NotebookLM, meaning you can seamlessly drag and drop those exports directly into Obsidian and start studying instantly!

Features

  • Interactive Quiz Mode: A beautifully designed, distraction-free flashcard interface right inside Obsidian.
  • NotebookLM Compatible: Seamlessly drag and drop your raw 2-column CSV exports from NotebookLM straight into your vault.
  • Built-in Editor: Easily add, edit, or delete cards directly from the plugin's "Editing Mode" tab. Changes save automatically!
  • Optional Hints: Stuck on a card? Add optional hints in Editing Mode. A glowing lightbulb icon will appear to help you out during study mode.
  • Shuffle & Review: Shuffle your deck on the fly without losing your progress, and automatically review your missed/skipped cards at the end of a session.

How to Use

  1. Create or Import a CSV: Place any .csv file into your Obsidian vault. For example, a direct export from NotebookLM or a simple text file like this:

"What is the capital of France?","Paris"
"What is 2+2?","4","A simple math question"

(Note: The third column for "hints" is completely optional!)

  2. Open the File: Click on the .csv file in your Obsidian file explorer. By default, it will open in the beautiful Flashcard View.

  3. Study!

    • Click the card to flip it and reveal the answer.
    • Use the X (incorrect) or Check (correct) buttons to mark your progress.
    • Use the Shuffle icon in the top right to randomize the remaining cards.
    • If a card has a hint, click the glowing Lightbulb icon in the bottom right to reveal it.
  4. Edit Your Deck: Click the Editing Mode tab at the top to instantly view, modify, and add new cards. All your edits are saved live back to the original .csv file!

Installation

(Once approved in the community directory, this will be installable directly from Obsidian settings).

Manual Installation

  1. Download the latest release from the Releases page.
  2. Extract the csv-flashcards folder into your vault's .obsidian/plugins/ directory.
  3. Reload Obsidian and enable "CSV Flashcards" in the Community Plugins settings.
