Browse your notes on a calendar. Every note automatically appears on the day you created it. Think of it as Steph Ango's Daily Note setup, but automatic and simplified. Now you can browse your whole vault through a calendar. Screenshot 2026-07-16 at 2 11 04 AM

Features

  • A calendar of your notes. Each day you created notes gets highlighted in your theme's accent color. Light at first, and more saturated the more notes you made that day.

  • Click a day to see its notes. Each note shows as a card with its title, a short preview of the text, its creation time, and any tags in the corner. Click a card to open the note.

  • Month and year views. Click the title to zoom out to a year at a glance, then click any month to dive back in. Step through months or years with the arrows.

  • Matches your theme. Colors follow your Obsidian accent color automatically, in both light and dark mode.

Installing

  1. Open Settings → Community plugins and make sure Community plugins are enabled.
  2. Search for Note Diary, install, and enable it.
  3. Open it from the calendar icon in the left ribbon, or run Open Note Diary from the command palette.

Manual install

Copy main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css into your vault at .obsidian/plugins/note-diary/, then enable the plugin in Settings.

A note on dates

Notes are placed by their file creation date. If you sync or copy notes onto a new machine, some systems reset that date to when the file arrived. So older notes may cluster on the day you set up your vault.
