A lightweight table of contents on the right side.

  • Collapsed view shows simple hierarchy lines

Installation

Community Plugins

  1. Settings → Community Plugins
  2. Disable Safe Mode
  3. Search “The Minimalist Editor”
  4. Install & enable

if it’s not on the official list yet, use the BRAT method below.

BRAT (alternative)

  1. Install the BRAT plugin from: https://github.com/TfTHacker/obsidian42-brat
  2. Open BRAT settings in Obsidian
  3. Click “Add Beta Plugin”
  4. Paste the repository URL for The Minimalist Editor
  5. Install & enable

Manual

  1. Download latest release
  2. Extract to .obsidian/plugins/the-minimalist-editor/
  3. Reload Obsidian
  4. Enable plugin

Usage

Settings

Settings → The Minimalist Editor

  • Toggle outline
  • Switch minimal style
  • Enable focus mode
  • Adjust dim opacity
  • Add auto-hide exclusions for notes/folders
  • Hide properties / scrollbar

Commands (Cmd/Ctrl + P)

  • Toggle Inline Outline
  • Toggle Focus Mode

Hotkeys can be customized in Settings → Hotkeys.

Compatibility

  • Requires Obsidian v1.9.3 or higher
  • Desktop only (Windows, macOS, Linux)
  • Works with both Edit and Reading modes
