Joel Wong135 downloadsHover any Bible reference to preview the verse; click to read the whole chapter, with an inline translation switcher.
Preview Bible verses inline and read whole chapters without leaving your notes.
Hover any Bible reference — in Reading view and Live Preview — to preview the verse in a clean popover, then click the reference to open the whole chapter in a distraction-free reader (with ‹ › chapter navigation). Passages are laid out Bible Gateway-style — prose flows in paragraphs, poetry keeps its line breaks, and section headings are shown where the translation provides them. Every preview and the chapter reader link to the passage on Bible Gateway.
On mobile, tap a reference to show the preview; tap the version code to switch translation, and tap anywhere else to dismiss.
No setup and no API key required.
Full book names and common abbreviations, with or without verses/ranges:
John 3:161 Corinthians 13:4-7Rom 8:28, Ps 23, Mt 6:9Genesis 1 (whole chapter)Matching is case-sensitive (references are virtually always capitalized), so ordinary prose like "my job 2 days ago" is left alone.
Switch versions on the fly from the selector inside the preview popover; the setting just picks the default. Available versions include NIV, NLT, ESV, NKJV, NASB, AMP, MSG, NET, KJV, WEB and many more — English plus Latin / Portuguese / German / Greek / Hebrew / Chinese.
Just two:
Everything else lives inside the preview itself: the translation switcher, Read full chapter, and Bible Gateway links are always in the popover (header and footer stay pinned while the passage scrolls).
Command palette: "Open Bible reference…" jumps to any chapter directly.
Verse text is fetched on demand from public Bible APIs and cached for the session:
Only the reference you hover/open (e.g. John 3) is sent. Nothing else leaves
your vault. The "Bible Gateway" link in the preview popover and chapter reader
opens biblegateway.com in your browser.
